Why the Bible?

This is not a site about challenging the Bible. This site has been created to help the sincere truth seeker find a way to God in a simple introductory way, a handshake as it were. Later, we may look at how we got the Bible but for now we would encourage the direct approach: examine the internal evidence as it may pertain ultimately to you.

Translations

Any will do, but more secondary “helps” are available for the King James Version (aka, KJV) than any other.

Versions

The digital Bibles have proliferated and greatly enhanced Bible study in recent years. A single vendor may not only provide a program for looking up books, chapter, and verse of the Bible, but offer a variety of translations and “helps” too.

“Helps”

Professor Strong’s dictionary of the Hebrew (Old Testament) and of the Greek (New Testament) includes a link to every word in the KJV Bible. This is invaluable, especially when used in conjunction with the “concordance” feature (every occurrence of a word in the Bible) as the linked number may also be used in the concordance (various kinds of “love”, distinct kinds of “come”, etc.). All the Hebrew words begin with an “H” and all the Greek words begin with a “G” in Strong’s links.

To begin, consider that both the Old and the New Testaments must be studied. They support each other. There have been various attempts to add additional books to the Bible, but the KJV contains sixty-six books which harmonize with the whole.

There are more opinions than there are Christian Churches about what is most sacred, what the true faith is, what you should believe to be counted a Christian, and so on. Look elsewhere for these battle zones. For this work, we will stay with book, chapter, verse and not rely on early church “fathers”, councils, etc., just scripture. Sometimes you may not have an answer and that may well be the conclusion that the Lord had in mind for the humble.
